Lionhealth has developed LH BLU, the second food for special medical purposes resulting from Lionhealth's research, approved by the Ministry of Health (registration code 20283).
LH BLU is indicated for the dietary management of protein-energy malnutrition associated with cancer, during drug treatment, in the perioperative period, and during remission, even in the presence of mucositis and/or difficulty consuming large volumes of fluids.
LH BLU is a powdered product formulated in accordance with the international guidelines of ESPEN (2021), ESMO (2021), MASCC/ISOO (2020), and ASPEN (2026).
LH BLU is characterized by:
- L-glutamine (6.67 g/100 g) and zinc (14.34 mg/100 g);
- L-carnosine combined with a blend of polyphenolic extracts to enhance antioxidant activity;
- soluble fiber (9.07 g/100 g), including inulin (1.60 g/100 g) and FOS (1.60 g/100 g), which help improve stool consistency and promote the diversification of the microbiota;
- Immune-supporting nutrients: L-glutamine, zinc, vitamin D3 (33.30 μg/100 g), and selenium (120.00 μg/100 g).
Another key feature is sustainability, which is very important to us. A comparative LCA study (conducted in accordance with ISO 14040/44) carried out by the specialized firm Limenet showed that the powdered formulation of LH BLU reduces CO2e emissions by 41% compared to the two most commonly used liquid products for these patients.
